A couple of weeks ago I headed out to meet the awesome van Gool family on a sunny afternoon to create some fresh family portraits for them. We got a stunning evening, the light was gorgeous and this family of five were so welcoming. I had a wonderful time getting to know Katrina, Josh and the kids. And I loved creating these portraits.
I know I say it a lot, but my favourite part of being a photographer is the people I meet. Today I sat down with Katrina to show her the images from their shoot and choose favourites. I guess the viewing session is a process which could be quite 'sale-sy' but that's so not me and instead it's conversational and relaxed. It was like catching up with a friend over coffee.
So often children are most natural & honest in front of the camera when they're doing something of their own choosing, and I enjoy capturing portraits this way because it really shows their personality & that time of their lives. Kees loved showing me his bike and Mikayla (an avid hat collector) wore her favourite sequinned pink hat for most of the shoot. 💕
Katrina and Josh, thank you SO much for the opportunity to photograph your beautiful family! It was lovely meeting you. I hope you enjoy the photos documenting this snapshot in time.x
