Back in November 2013 I did my first ever styled shoot. I organised a model, a flower crown, a friend to do the make-up & hair, another friend to be my assistant. I even bought a dress!
When I look back now at this styled shoot I inwardly cringe at the job I did at organising & executing it all, and don't get me started on some of the awkward poses I put Tyla (my model) into. I like to think that almost 3 years on, my posing & direction has definitely advanced and I feel a lot more polished when it comes to putting together shoots! But I still love these photos and when I came across them on an old hard drive a few weeks ago I knew they would be perfect for a Throwback Thursday!
Here are some of the photos from the shoot, edited back in 2013...
And here are a few that I edited today! Although the photographs feature the same colour palette and same lighting, I see a HUGE difference in my editing style 3 years on!
Here's a couple of side-by-sides...the 2016 edit versus the 2013 edit.
There's a cliché saying that the only photographer you should compare yourself to is a previous version of yourself. But it's true! We all started somewhere and it can be easy to forget that. I am still so grateful to Tyla & everyone that was involved in this shoot back in 2013 - it was doing these sort of projects that helped me grow & develop! xx
