If I was any good at sales I would confidently list off a number of reasons why you should definitely get a wedding album included as part of your photography package for your wedding. But I'm not great at sales. So I'm going to speak from the heart and tell you why that wedding album is so important.

In fact I tell all my couples this, whether they choose a package with an album or not. I acknowledge the importance of digital files in this modern world, I tell my couples that my photos are as much theirs as they are mine & that I want them to have the digital files so they can get prints as they wish, so they can put them on social media & so they can enjoy them. I provide digital files both on USB and a cloud storage gallery so that they are forever backed up. And I also acknowledge that everyone has a budget & personal preferences, so I offer personalised options.

But from my heart I tell them this: A wedding album becomes the lasting heirloom of your wedding day.

When you first receive the wedding album you will sit it on your lap & touch the beautiful cover material that you chose, running your fingers over your names embossed on the front. You'll flick through the pages of your favourite photos, bringing back all the memories and emotions of your wedding day. And when you get to the last page you'll go back and start again from the front, looking at each photo a moment longer than before. You fall in love with the album that represents one of the best days of your lives.

The album will sit proudly in your living room, likely on the coffee table, and will be pulled out and enjoyed with family and friends when they visit.

In good times and in bad you may pull out that album again to remind you of the happiness and love you felt on that day. Your wedding album will be the protector of those special memories. Memories of all the laughter shared with friends, that euphoric feeling when you were pronounced Mr & Mrs, how he couldn't take his eyes off you, that moment when you whispered to him how handsome he looked.

Your children will look through your album and comment how pretty Mum is in that dress. And in years to come that wedding album will become a precious heirloom to your children, and your grandchildren.

Nothing digital will ever replace the special feeling of holding a wedding album in your hands.

In February next year Matt and I will have been married for five years - time flys when you are having fun ;) And here is a bit of honest reality; we have one wedding photograph framed on our wall, we have our wedding album on the coffee table that I still look through often AND I have no idea where I've put the disc of all our digital photos!

So I ask of you - please consider the importance of a wedding album when you talk to your photographer about your wedding day. It may not seem of importance right now in the middle of wedding planning, but in years to come it will. When your big day has been and gone, your wedding album will the lasting heirloom containing all those happy memories & moments.xx
