Rowan & Hayden | Bull Creek Engagement Session

It was as if the weather gods were smiling down on us for Rowan & Hayden's Bull Creek engagement session last week. The rain clouds cleared and the wind died away, in perfect timing as we started the shoot. Bull Creek is a beautiful, quiet spot on the Otago coastline and somewhere I definitely want to visit again!

Apart from being a stunning place to do an engagement session Bull Creek is very special to Rowan & Hayden. Rowan has spent many childhood holidays there at the family crib, where her Mum now lives and being only 30 minutes from home both Rowan & Hayden spend many weekends out there together. It's also where Hayden proposed!

​Rowan & Hayden have been together since their teens and when Hayden proposed of course Rowan was beyond excited...but she might have already had an idea that the question was coming! When I asked them about their engagement, Hayden told me how he had needed to find a good hiding spot for the ring until he popped the question. The spot he chose is somewhere most of us would never think to look; in the spare tyre well of the car. I mean unless Rowan got a flat tyre why would she ever look in there?! Perfect hiding spot!

Turns out Rowan did look in there & found the jewellery box - she tells me it's because she'd just got the new car and was checking everything out...which seems reasonable. Very diligently, without opening the box she queried Hayden as to why there was a Stewart Dawson's ring box in her car. Hayden promptly said oh don't look at that and I'm guessing by then Rowan had an idea of what was inside. 😜 

Man I love shooting at the beach. That sea mist is dreamy! 

​We had a lot of fun getting to know these two better on their engagement shoot. Rowan came across my photography when we shot her cousin's wedding, but funnily enough it also turns out Hayden & Matt have mutual friends!
