Reuben proposed to Heidi on this beach and Heidi grew up with Cannibal Bay as her backyard. It was only fitting that the two tie the knot in this favourite place of theirs. The sun was shining, a wonderful contrast to the weather we'd had for their engagement session last year!
It was wonderful to celebrate these two and to spend time with many familiar faces, seeing as Heidi is the third sibling in the Sinclair family whom we have had the privilege of being wedding photographers for.
Heidi is very laidback and not a thing phased her as she got ready for their big day, not even her Dad still being outside doing chores in farm clothes half an hour before they were to head down to the beach for the ceremony! I think Reuben was easily the more nervous one wanting everything to be just perfect for his girl. Not that he needed to worry because the day was brilliant in every way, even when a rogue wave or two interrupted their ceremony! Reuben and Heidi's day was down to earth, beautiful and an epic celebration of the start of a new chapter for them both.
Reuben and Heidi had a nautical theme to their wedding which I absolutely adored. Heidi got ready at her family home, where the reception would be later on, surrounded by her family along with her closest friends as bridesmaids.
Heidi you made such a beautiful bride!
Reuben and the guys got ready over the hill at Kaka Point.
The weather was just stunning. The air was warm and the sun beaming. It's not often a beach wedding in New Zealand looks quite as tropical as this!
Reuben and Heidi hadn't counted on the tide coming in quite so fast and there ended up being a few wet feet during the ceremony! Considering the special significance this very location has to the pair I think it was kind of fitting that the ocean had it's own part to play in their ceremony.
Officially husband and wife!
While guests headed up the road to the Sinclair farm where an impressive marquee sat atop the hill, the bridal party took off for an adventure up to the headland looking back over Cannibal Bay. (Yes Matt got another 4wd wedding expedition!).
Is any trip to Cannibal Bay complete without a run in with some sea lions?!
The nautical theme continued into the marquee, with paua shell and driftwood on the tables - completed with a view of Cannibal Bay behind the head table.
Throughout the speeches there was laughter, some tears (mainly from Jess the maid of honour!) and a few witty jibs from Heidi's three brothers who it seems were not initially approving when Reuben first came on the scene dating their little sister all those years ago!
As guests dined and relaxed, we took photos as we usually do around the tables - a nice snapshot for couples to have of their guests - and with an epic view in the Sinclair's front yard we took quite a few portraits outside too as the sun set. Including stealing Reuben and Heidi away to the LOVE sign they'd made with driftwood.
Congratulations Mr & Mrs Crossan! What a pleasure it was to be a part of your beautiful wedding day. Thank you for choosing us as your photographers. It's been a true privilege to photograph three Sinclair weddings over the years and I do hope we continue to cross paths into the future. Matt and I wish you the very best for your future together Reuben and Heidi.
There are so many gorgeous moments from your day, it was hard to choose my favourites for your blog. I look forward to creating your wedding album very much! x
