I believe engagement sessions are such an important part of our wedding experience - so much so that they're complimentary to every one of our wedding couples. The engagement session is the perfect chance for us to all get to know each better. I aim to get you comfortable & relaxed in front of my camera - this is important because I love capturing genuine, natural expressions & moments. So by your wedding day you know us, how we work & there are no nerves about being photographed!

In preparation for your engagement session here's some information you may find helpful:

YOUR ENGAGEMENT RING
I'll be photographing your beautiful engagement ring up close so nows a perfect opportunity to give it a gentle clean or have it cleaned at the jewellers so it sparkles brightly for your photos. 😉

SHOW YOUR GROOM PAST ENGAGEMENT SESSIONS ON THE BLOG
We've noticed it's always incredibly helpful if the guys know what's in store before the session. Take ten minutes to scroll through a couple of past engagement sessions on my blog with your groom so he knows what to expect.

HAIR & MAKEUP
Consider scheduling your wedding hair &/or makeup trial to work in with your engagement session! You will cherish these images forever so having your hair & makeup done can be an extra fun way to celebrate the occasion and allow you to be extra confident during your shoot!

OUTFIT INSPIRATION
We recommend two outfits for your engagement session. Starting with a dressy outfit first then changing into something more casual. This gives you plenty of variety in your photographs!

MORE OUTFIT TIPS
Wondering about what colours photograph best? Neutrals such as blush, tans, pastels, faint blues and teals, creams, grays and whites will always result in more of a light and airy look to your images. These colors photograph softer and more romantically!

Dresses? If you're thinking of a dress for one of your outfits consider a flowing, maxi-length dress or skirt! The movement of this type of fabric photographs beautifully!

Co-ordinate but don't match. For example: pair different shades of blue. Or denim with greens. Blue with grey & white, etc. We also recommend avoiding both of you wearing WHITE as a top. This won’t allow for any contrast in your images. And don't be afraid to accessorise with necklaces, scarves, belts etc - they can add texture and depth to your outfit!

Guys, we recommend that you avoid patterns that are smaller than a coin. For example: a checkered shirt. These small patterns can create strange visual effects in a digital camera. And we recommend avoiding graphic t-shirts or bold logos.

Above all else, make sure you feel comfortable in what you choose to wear so that you can be comfortable & confident in your portraits.
