So our summer wedding season is officially finished! It's been a pretty big season, starting in September and finishing last weekend. We've been all over Southland and Otago this season with seventeen awesome couples in total. And what a beautiful couple to end the season with!!! Phil and Alice got married at Lake Hawea surrounded by their friends and family, many of whom had travelled a long way to celebrate alongside them. Central Otago turned on a beautiful, sunny day and the autumn leaves were still looking fabulous. Sounds of happiness filled the air all day; from the relaxed morning of preparations, guests cheering Phil and Alice on, right through to the clinking of glasses during a beautiful Chinese toasting tradition at the reception! I remember Alice telling me during our very first meeting that she met Phil at church. She had her eye on him for a wee while before she struck up the courage to introduce herself. As the saying goes...the rest is history. Phil and his groomsmen had just as a relaxed morning getting ready. I loved the navy and lavender colour combination! Phil and Alice's pastor David from C3 Church married them overlooking Lake Hawea. After becoming officially husband & wife, Alice and Phil with their bridal party headed in to Wanaka for portraits. When Alice first talked to me about their wedding plans she told me Wanaka was special to her along with the beautiful colours of the autumn leaves. Aside from that Alice was totally happy for me to decide on the exact spots for photos. I think we definitely found the autumn colours and it's hard to find a more iconic Wanaka shot than with 'that tree' so I think we nailed the brief. Portrait time was so much fun with this awesome bridal party! Alice and Phil - you two looked incredible! I am so obsessed with all these photos!!! When we got back to Hawea we stopped by the ceremony site for a few quick photos in the rapidly cooling temperatures, just to make use of that last glow of the sun on the hills after sunset. Last shot of the evening before heading inside to the warm! Lake Hawea Hotel was toasty warm with the fire crackling and everything was looking awesome! The cake, made by Phil's sister Anita, was themed with Phil's love for rally car driving. I loved this Chinese toasting tradition where the bridal party went around each and every table of guests, toasting & thanking them for being there! Phil and Alice's first dance as husband & wife was so beautiful! And with the dance floor open it was time to cut some shapes! Congratulations Phil and Alice! What a stunningly beautiful first day of marriage. So many precious memories and moments as you start out on this new adventure together. Thank you so much for having us as a part of your day. We loved celebrating with you both, meeting your families and cheering you on alongside your friends.
