At Waitangi weekend we shot away for the long weekend to Queenstown for our five year wedding anniversary! A weekend to celebrate life together, to unwind and relax, to sleep in and stay up late, to read books and take walks.
These mini-getaways are something we've always done - to re-charge and make time for each other with no distractions. Not just for special occasions like birthdays or anniversaries, but simply whenever we need it.
If you can't remember the last time you got away for a weekend & just relaxed (no chores, no to-do lists - just simply breathing & being) I thoroughly recommend you make the time for it & put it in your calendar now. It doesn't have to be an extravagance - a bottle of wine & a good book at the family bach is perfect! It's just plain good for the soul.
We stayed out at the Millbrook Resort, which incidentally would be a stunning wedding venue to photograph at (just throwing a blatant hint out there)! This place has become our favourite spot. We love staying here, especially in winter, because it's such a picturesque, quiet resort with a laid-back vibe.
You seriously can't take a photographer anywhere! They're shamelessly selfie obsessed ;-)
I'm not really selfie obsessed, but I love mirrors! (Yeah that does sound all kinds of vain now that I think about it).
I took Matt to Gibbston Valley Winery to do the cave tour. Afterwards he bought himself a bottle of wine!!! I know, I am as shocked as you are! I might have converted him over to the dark side!
You know what I said about not being able to take a photographer anywhere...I'm so lucky for Matt's patience. He puts up with SO much haha including letting me get the tripod & timer out so we can get a nice photo together!
Okay and then one more...
Queenstown you were wonderful. I'm dreaming of being back there right now!
