Kirsten & Mark's wedding was a perfect day of relaxed celebration. These two beautiful people weren't concerned about sticking to traditions and chose to make their wedding day fit their own personalities and style. For example the tradition of having a head table for the bridal party & arranged seating for the guests was replaced with a laid-back 'sit wherever you like' seating plan which suited the evening celebrations just perfectly as guests floated between the marquee and the garden as the sun set below the hills. These simple, yet beautiful twists to Kirsten & Mark's wedding day just made everything that much more special and intimate. From the very first Skype call I knew Kirsten and Mark were an awesome pair. As they planned their big day all the way from the UK we kept in touch and when I first met them in person just a week before their wedding it was like lunching with dear friends. Trelawn Place is an incredible wedding venue between Queenstown & Arthur's Point, with beautiful gardens and a view that looks out over the Shotover Canyon. Kirsten & Mark, along with their bridal party and family stayed here the weekend and got ready on site making for an easy-going morning of the wedding. I love personalised details and it doesn't get more sentimental that this heirloom locket from 1945! The girls spent a leisurely morning doing each other's hair and makeup. Meanwhile a few doors down, Mark was getting ready for the day too. I don't think the backdrop for a wedding ceremony can get much more stunning than this right!?! Guests arrived early to the venue and sat in the sun, taking in the view with a glass of Pimms in hand. Those precious steps down the aisle arm in arm with Dad. Megan Mckenzie delivered a great ceremony as always, complete with a beautiful reading from Kirsten's Mum and a few laughs as John, Mark's bestman, handed over the wedding rings out of a lolly bag! Kirsten & Mark had personalised sunglasses for their wedding guests! Queenstown turned on a beautiful sunny day and these were the perfect wedding favours. I love it when our couples give us creative licence with the photo locations. I wanted to showcase the beautiful part of our country that Kirsten & Mark had chosen for their big day, so the day before the wedding Matt and I went location scouting to find the perfect spots for location & light. Before heading to our second location the bridal party stopped to pop a bottle of bubbles and drink in the view. I just love how much fun we had with Kirsten, Mark and their bridal party! So many laughs and precious moments. Then it was back to join their guests at Trelawn Place and get the party started!!! How cool is Kirsten & Mark's cheese 'cake'?! The perfect evening treat served with an assortment of chutneys and crackers. Instead of a traditional reception format Kirsten & Mark let the evening unfold organically, with no formal speeches or a first dance. Glasses were topped up, food was served and everyone kicked back and enjoyed the relaxed al-fresco atmosphere. Now we couldn't finish the blog without showcasing at least one photo of Kirsten & Mark's signature pose; aptly named the 'Russian pose' as it was something they picked up from Russian tourists during a holiday they spent together in Mexico! Yes you read that right, a UK couple picking up posing techniques from Russians while in Mexico...Kirsten & Mark taught me all about this pose on their engagement shoot and it was a definite crowd favourite on the wedding day! 😜
Kirsten & Mark - words don't do justice to how thankful we are to have met you & to have been trusted with photographing your beautiful wedding day! We had the best day with you both, your families and your friends. Congratulations Mr & Mrs Streeter!!! I can only hope that our paths cross again in the future! x The awesome vendors...
