Justin and Sarah celebrated with their nearest & dearest as they became husband and wife last week in Glenorchy. These soulmates faced their fair share of challenges re-planning a wedding amidst the pandemic (including having to push back their wedding date by two weeks and rebook all their travel arrangements!) but I think I can safely say that Justin and Sarah's day was everything they dreamed it to be.
Their five children were all in the bridal party, they got epic snow covered mountains for a backdrop and Camp Glenorchy provided the perfect relaxed vibe these two were looking for.
Because Justin and Sarah live in Te Awamutu the first time Matt and I got to meet them in person was just a day before their wedding! Definitely not something I'd recommend for most couples as we do love having a bit more time getting to know each other, however after numerous zoom calls since Justin & Sarah booked us back in 2020 I felt like I knew them already and we had such a lovely weekend with them and their families.
Here's some of my favourite images from their wedding day...
I love when couples aren't afraid to do things differently. From Sarah's blue dress to the Pounamu Justin and the groomsmen wore instead of ties.
Justin and Sarah exchanged gifts in the morning and Sarah also had Pounamu necklaces for each of her bridesmaids too.
Sarah you looked like a Snow Queen in your fur cape! I loved the practical but stunning winter look you chose and it paired so well with the last of the snow still on the mountains surrounding Glenorchy!
Justin got ready at the venue with his family and grooms people. Again, not concerned with traditions, Justin chose the closest people to him for his side of the bridal party; his siblings and his and Sarah's boys.
How incredibly elaborate does that gift from Sarah look?! Oh and did I mention these two met on Bumble?? Technically they shouldn't have because their search parameters were not overlapping but fate worked in their favour and the rest as they say is history.
Justin and Sarah chose to see each other before the ceremony and do their portraits so they could spend the rest of the afternoon with their guests. I try not to have favourites when it comes to timelines because I believe every couple should always do what is right for them, but I'm going to say it...first looks are my favourite! They're just so special and they set the vibe for a relaxed, fun day with zero time pressure.
How beautiful are the florals from Orange Blossom Designs?! I'm a sucker for proteas!
Did you even get married in Glenorchy if you don't have a photo in front of the red shed? 😄
While the bridal party headed back to their cottage for lunch and some chill out time all the finishing touches for the ceremony and reception were happening at Camp Glenorchy. If you haven't heard of this stunning venue make sure you go Google them! I was very excited when Sarah mentioned their wedding venue because this eco retreat has been on my radar for a long time.
Sarah's dad was so proud to walk her up the aisle. I love these moments caught on camera!
Celebrant Andy Bell kept their ceremony heartfelt but filled with plenty of laughter. It was a beautiful personalised ceremony, complete with a reading from Justin's sister.
As the sun set behind the mountains guests brought their celebrations from the outdoors in to the stunning reception room. How stunning are those woven harakeke flowers made by Sarah's mum!
Listening to the speeches at the reception was a real highlight for me, hearing their loved ones share tales about them - some rather hilarious and others very heart-warming. And as the evening formalities wound to a close, while guests kicked back ready for dinner and dancing, we stole Sarah & Justin for a few more photos outside with sparklers...
Congratulations again Justin and Sarah! It was a real privilege to be your wedding photographers - thank you for trusting us to document your special day. I hope you're having a fabulous honeymoon right now and that you enjoy reliving the day you became husband and wife with this blog. I'll be in touch soon with all your photos.
Matt and I wish you every happiness in your married life. x
