Matt & I recently got to catch up with the family out at Conical Hill. After Brenda put on an amazing spread for lunch none of us were hugely enthusiastic for photos, an afternoon nap would have been more perfect & the boys were keen to talk boy things all day. But we braved what was surely the hottest, brightest day of September & made our way out on to the farm for portraits.
Brenda had told me they wanted to use the old historic bridge on their farm. I was all up for it, until I realised that to get the light behind everyone I'd need to be on the other side of the bridge...a bridge that has no boards, just the original two beams...meaning I'd have to essentially walk the plank all the way to the other side! Did I mention I get vertigo, especially when I'm out over WATER!!! So after watching Lizzie shuffle/hop across the beams on her bum, I decided this was also the only way I was going to be going across too! Of course Matt took a photo of that, but I'm not putting it up on here. (There's behind-the-scenes shots & then there's just things that no one should have to see!)
The awesome thing about taking photos on people's farms is that you can never be sure just what to expect & what will turn up in the photos! Like Laura's pet lamb for instance!
Now let's play a little game of who belongs to which pair of gumboots?! The classic Redbands, the person who likes playing in the mud the most, the one who doesn't wear their gumboots much and then the fashion conscious ;) PS: Lizzie I like your style, I have a pair very similar.
Matt & I were thrilled to find out James and Lizzie had just got engaged too. Congratulations team!
See Mum, they do take a nice photo. But they pull off the 'crazy sibling shot' even better! ;)
Thanks heaps guys for having us take these photos for you. Taking photos for family is always heaps of fun & sometimes a little daunting. You were awesome & lunch was incredible! I hope you love your photos.xxx
