Have you considered getting an extra 10 minutes with your photographer at your wedding? I've had a few of my wedding couples take 10 minutes to pop out during their reception for some sunset portraits or after dark shots. I love it when couples want to do something like this - I see it as a great way for my couples to have a little quiet time together and it's always fun to push myself creatively to create something a little different for my clients.
And for Amy & Regan it gave them the opportunity to get creative with sparklers after dark!
Sometimes it could be in between meal courses, or even in between dancing - although we don't like keeping you away from getting your boogie on! 😉 Grabbing a few shots like this in the evening can be a perfect option if the weather cut photo time earlier in the day too!
If you're planning an autumn or winter wedding, sunset is even earlier so you could consider staying out for just a few minutes after the sun goes down at the end of your bridal party portrait time. These shots below were created just before the wedding reception at 6pm in June!
And if you're getting married in the middle of summer - you can still pop out of your reception for 10 minutes to get some sunset shots or a moment of alone time for you both.
It really is just a few minutes too because we don't want to keep you away from your guests and the party! We often figure out where we'll do the photos on the grounds of the venue & set-up first, then get you out for the shortest amount of time possible (we realise it's usually a little cold standing outside in your wedding dress!).
And we totally get that it's not for all our couples but if you're interested in these types of shots then let us know because we're always up for it! 😊
Tip - If you love the idea of after dark photos of you and your groom, and think it would be cool to do some sparkler shots - remember that they're only on sale once a year so grab a stash of them now for the big day!
