Fraser and Sarah surprised their guests with a tipi wedding on the terrace at Sarah's parents' Limehills property. To say their wedding was picture perfect would be an understatement. I spent the day in photography nirvana! Not just because their months of planning ensured the day was utterly fabulous, or that the weather was beautifully warm, calm & the lighting soft - but also because we spent the day in wonderful company! Fraser and Sarah have become good friends of ours since they first booked us almost two years ago. It all kind of happened on their epic Moke Lake engagement session. Fraser and Matt share the same career, many of the same hobbies and their humour is uncannily alike. It was somewhat destined that they would become good mates! Sarah and Fraser love camping as much as we do (hopefully we'll share some adventures together in the near future!) and we've shared many meals together over the months just hanging out - these two being particularly supportive when our wee Henry got sick. So I don't say it lightly when I say that Matt and I are so honoured to know Fraser & Sarah, to be their photographers & friends and to have been a part of their gorgeous wedding journey. Fraser and Sarah's whole day was filled with love, laughter and joy. Proud parents as their kids got ready at their respective family homes in the morning, beautiful words of wisdom from their celebrant, so much fun with their bridal party and a celebration with their loved ones that they will remember forever. My morning was spent at the McKenzie home where Sarah got ready with her bridesmaids. It was a laidback morning - the girls even practiced their dance moves in the lounge! And we sat watching the sky clear more and more as the morning went on, even revealing fresh snow on the mountains (summer in Southland!). Meanwhile Matt headed off with Fraser and the guys to do shoot some clays before getting into their wedding gears at Fraser's parents home in Winton. How cool are those moustache socks! Fraser and Sarah chose to do a first look and portraits before their late afternoon ceremony, so they could spend the rest of their day with their guests. Such cuties! One fine looking bridal party right there. On top of the world! Fraser was already the happiest groom getting to marry the girl of his dreams, but it certainly turned in to the best day ever for him when he got to include his dirtbike AND their jetboat in some photos too! Nope it's not awkward at all when the photographer gets in the veil with you! Of course we had to get our #heidihortoncouples shot for the studio wall! And then it was time to go make things official! Introducing Mr & Mrs Guise! How cool is this caravan bar?! Ginger Crunch kept everyone hydrated all evening. Popping bottles of bubbles with the bridal party might just about be the funniest thing to photograph. The facials are always GOLD! Sarah and Fraser had thought of every detail, the tipi looked incredible and I know just how many hours were put into making, crafting and assembling all the sentimental wee touches that completed their wedding day. Baked personalised cookies. Epic hand-lettered signage. Family heirloom blankets for later in the evening. And family wedding photos which are always so cool to see! How amazing do those truffles look?! The best supper treat! The weather was actually so good, most of the evening was spent outside by many. Guests congregated under the festoon lights and around the firepits, enjoying the warm evening and the beautiful sunset. Fraser and Sarah got the party started with their first dance played by their band D&M Duo. I might have done my own little happy dance when I saw the firey red sky on dusk! So of course we had to sneak out for a couple more photos. Friends! Congratulations again on the BEST wedding day ever! Fraser and Sarah you nailed it. We had the best day as your photographers, celebrating with you both alongside your families and friends. Thank you for choosing us as your photographers. It's been a journey! I mean we always enjoy getting to know our couples, their story and to make a genuine connection - but it's ended up next level with you guys and we're so stoked to have made awesome new friends in the process. Happy honeymooning you two!
