On Friday evening Matt and I headed out to Waikoikoi to meet with Deonie and Hamish for their engagement session. When Deonie & Hamish got in touch with me many months ago about wedding photography, I had no idea that Matt has actually known Deonie since the days when he lived at Pukerau, so it was a happy surprise when we worked that out a few months down the track! It never ceases to amaze me how small our world can be!
We had a great evening of conversation getting to know these two, exploring their gardens and lifestyle block for photos and making the most of the stunning sunset! Deonie and Hamish both grew up in the country and their lifestyle block in Waikoikoi seems just the perfect spot for them with their two dogs, cat and collection of farm animals.
I'm so excited for Deonie & Hamish's wedding next year. They're such down-to-earth, genuine people and I know their wedding day will be a day of relaxed fun and celebration!
I sometimes wonder how nuts I must seem to my couples when I'm shooting around sunset, because I'm constantly saying 'ah this light is amazing!', followed two minutes later by 'aaahh this light just keeps getting better!!!'
How do you make a 5 foot 2 photographer feel really short??! Put her in a paddock with horses! 😂 Seriously I am in awe of horses - they are majestic creatures, but yikes they make me feel short. I loved photographing Hamish & Deonie with their two beautiful horses though and just look at that epic horse photobomb!
A huge thank you to Deonie & Hamish! We loved spending the afternoon with you both and I thoroughly enjoyed creating these portraits. I can't wait to show you all the photographs. Great things are in store for 2018! xx
