Last weekend we got away to Te Anau for a couple of nights. I love this sleepy town in winter. We tied in a weekend away with catching up with Dan and Kayla for their engagement session. The weather certainly didn't get the memo but we had fun regardless and embraced the wet conditions anyway! I know Dan and Kayla must have been feeling the cold but it was seriously worth it because the light was incredibly soft and the skies deliciously moody!
Dan grew up in Te Anau and Kayla's dad has a farm just out of Te Anau so it was inevitable that these two would cross paths one day. Dan tells me it was pretty much love at first sight. It was certainly easy to see the love between them, the fun they have and the friendship they share. I loved getting to know Dan and Kayla better during their engagement session - it was a shoot filled with laughter and good banter. They bought along their dog Jax too who pretty much stole the show and when he wasn't in the photos was busy being Matt's friend!
It was awesome to get a wee farm tour around Kayla's dads farm as this is where Dan and Kayla get married in a few months time.
These two were so trusting right from the start - Dan & Kayla didn't even hesitate when I asked if they were okay to sit down on the wet jetty! Such troopers given that you can't really tell how wet and windy it was from these photos!
Those moody skies!
Thank you Dan and Kayla for being superstars in the wet windy conditions we had! It wasn't the warmest shoot but it was so much fun and I am in LOVE with the photos we created - can't wait to show you them all! Bring on November! xx
