With the first hints of autumn in the air Andrew & Kasey celebrated their love at Cornish Point, Cromwell surrounded by family and friends. This beautiful wedding is our last for the season and it couldn't have been more perfect - even when electricity to half of Central Otago was out for the majority of the morning, due to an explosion at the power plant, right about the time everyone was beginning to get ready for the wedding!!! Andrew & Kasey's wedding was a day of pure love & happiness and I think it truly shines through in these images. It was roughly two months out from this wedding that I realised Kasey was a girl after my own heart. That moment was when I received her email detailing the wedding timeline. It's very common for me to help my couples build their wedding timelines, after all it's not something you've ever done before until you get married! I like to have it all written out for Matt & myself so that at any point in the day we know where we need to be, with addresses, contact numbers and any special notes. What's not very common is having the bride email a complete timeline which looked uncannily similar to the very own spreadsheet that I usually fill out after talking to my couples. It was at that moment that I knew Kasey and I would be very good friends ;-) Anyone that knows me well, knows I love designing a good spreadsheet...and I may have met my twin! Now this blog has to begin with Kasey's dress! When I walked into the girl's room in the morning and saw the dress I just about started bouncing up and down with excitement. I'd never seen something so delicately beautiful, with a slight cafe creamy colour and the softest tulle ever with lace detail! Swoon. The florals from The Flower Room in Queenstown were a-m-a-z-i-n-g! So perfect for the autumn feel of the wedding. Sarah, Kasey's sister and maid of honour, was the talented hair stylist and makeup artist for the morning including doing her own wedding hair too! I'm in awe! It made it a beautifully intimate morning for the girls with just the three of them hanging out as they got ready. Just a few hundred metres down the road at the Ward house, Andrew and his groomsmen were getting ready too. The guys, looking sharp, headed down to the girl's house where Andrew went to wait on the jetty to see his beautiful bride for the first time! Andrew & Kasey opted to see each other first and to do their bridal party photos before the ceremony so that the rest of the afternoon could be spent with their guests. The weather forecast for the day was meant to be overcast with a chance of rain, however by lunchtime it had become obvious it was going to be a very sunny, warm Autumn day. So we had fun creating some magic portraits in the cool shade of this pine forest - I'm so in love with these, the light was just perfect and just check out this stunning bridal party! Kasey you looked so smokin' hot!!! And Andrew looks pretty stoked about it ;-) Last stop was Old Cromwell Town for photos looking back across the lake at Cornish Point, which is where the ceremony was being held on the Ward family property. Kasey you have an amazing attention to detail. Everything looked absolutely perfect at the ceremony and everything had been thought of. My favourites would have to be the paper flowers on the arch and the framed quotes! Andrew & Kasey planted a tree as part of their wedding ceremony, which ended up being quite a fun undertaking when Andrew struck rocks and couldn't dig down far enough. Andrew's version of the story is that he asked his dad to pre-dig the hole for the tree so it would literally be the act of shovelling out the dirt and putting the tree in. He reckons his dad stitched him up and didn't dig the hole deep enough, therefore ensuring everyone made a little light fun of Andrew on the day. Whether that is the true story - I'll remain impartial ;-) We were treated with stunning afternoon light for the group photos with the lake in the background as the sun began to set. The marquee looked incredible for the newlywed's grand entrance! As well as being an absolutely gorgeous bride, putting together a beautiful wedding where every detail was done with love, Kasey is also a talented baker and created her own epic wedding cake! The evening started with speeches filled with love, appreciation and fun tales! Andrew & Kasey...thank you so much for choosing us as your wedding photographers! Your day was perfect, not only because it was a stunning wedding to photograph, but because you are both such humble, caring people and it has been awesome getting to know you both. The uneventful weather forecast and the chaotic morning without power would be enough to bring out a panic attack in most brides, however Kasey you were so calm and relaxed - at least on the outside ;-) And fate had it that the day came together perfectly for you both.
I hope you enjoy these photos, I can't wait to show you them all! It was such a pleasure and privilege to document your wedding day for you.
