Changes to my 2020 Portraits pricing!

Up until this year my portrait pricing structure has remained unchanged for a long time. When you book a portrait session with me there is a session fee which includes all the planning pre-shoot, the photoshoot itself and your viewing session afterwards where you come into my Gore studio to view the photos we created from your photoshoot. At the viewing session you can then choose which images you'd like to purchase as prints, wall art, albums, digitals etc. My product pricelist includes individual items as well as discounted package options.

This year I have decided to remove the dollar figure attached to buying digital files! And here's why I am super excited about this change...

  • Don't worry you can still get the digital versions of your photos, in fact it's easier to get them now because you don't have to pay for them outright like you used to on my old pricelist. I whole-heartedly believe in the importance of digital files - they give versatility, make sharing your photos with friends and family easy and are a great form of backup so there's no way I would stop supplying digitals altogether.

  • What I am doing is removing the price tag that I used to have on digital files. Previously you could choose to buy either printed product or digitals or a mix of both. For example last year you might have chosen to buy just the digital files from me. You left the studio with a USB or online download link with access to the digital photos. Now you can spend that same amount of money on printed product, maybe some framed prints or a beautiful portrait album, and you will receive digital files with your purchase. It's a win-win because you're getting twice the value for the same dollars!

  • Why am I doing this?! I've always struggled a little to assign a value to digital files because I don't believe they're a finished product. While digitals are great to have, they're not a physical, ready to display & enjoy product. A photograph truely comes to life when it is printed on beautiful crisp paper. Something you can hold in your hand, walk past every day in your home, have on display as a statement that says "this is my beautiful family".

  • For all the good intentions in the world the most common thing I heard from clients who just bought the digitals was that they never got around to properly printing and displaying their photos. This makes me sad because when you go to the effort and spend your money on a professional photoshoot, it just doesn't make sense to not then get the full enjoyment from the photographs that have been created.

  • Sure there is value in the digital version. It takes time, experience and skill to create these photographs. But what I value even more is being able to provide my clients with a tangible keepsake that they will enjoy for years to come. Printed photographs can last forever. They are what we turn to when we look for photographs of loved ones who have passed. Albums with collections of photos that bring back precious memories and tell stories of our lives.

I'm really excited about this change to my 2020 portrait pricing! I know it's way better value for my clients - they're going to get so much more for their money! It means every client this year is going to leave my studio with gorgeous printed images of their choosing and I just love creating professional products ready to be enjoyed.

So if you are thinking 2020 is the year to update your family photos, or if you've never had family portraits taken, please get in touch with me so I can send you my portrait info pack because I can't wait to connect with the awesome people and families I'm going to be photographing this year and I would love for that to include you!

PS: I hear you down the back there saying 'but what if I only want the digitals?' and the answer to that is you can still get them! They're just going to come with some beautiful, professional prints as a bonus! 😉 #winwin
