Nomah and KB are patiently awaiting the arrival of their first child and imagining what it will feel like to hold their baby girl in their arms for the first time. A few weeks ago we headed down to the river to create some photographs to mark this very special time in their lives before their world changes forever.
These two were totally at ease and so in the moment in front of my camera. I had the best time getting to know Nomah & KB during the shoot and I have so many favourite photos. Nomah is absolutely glowing and just one look at these photos shows you how excited KB is to meet his daughter!
Nomah & KB - thank you for asking me to create these portraits for you of such a special time. I had a lot of fun on your photoshoot and I look forward to getting these portraits printed for you in a gorgeous keepsake album. xx
I had organised with the Grace family to meet them in Fortrose, a special family spot for them, at Queens Birthday weekend to do maternity portraits. We had hoped for a mild afternoon & perhaps even a nice sunset. But Fortrose had other plans. About 15 minutes before I got to the crib it started raining but in true Southland style we decided to soldier on in between the rain showers.
Regardless of the weather, we still captured some beautiful maternity & family photos before heading back into the warmth of the crib to dry off and warm up! A huge thanks must be said to the Grace family for being such troopers in the less than perfect weather conditions!!!
It was a privilege to be asked to take photos of this precious time in the Grace family. Both Lisa & Matt have an interest in photography so it was lovely to share this common ground with them & to hear how Lisa has had photos done each year, documenting and creating keepsakes for both their boys as they grow up.
These two black & whites just might be my favourites. Capturing these sorts of moments just makes my heart sing!
Lisa you are beautiful!
I just had to include this photo - one of the last we took, we wanted to get some beach shots out the front of the crib but as we headed out the drizzle turned into another shower & this time it set in! Lisa couldn't see for the rain streaming down her face into her eyes and Matt had literally just changed his shirt for these "beach shots" but it was drenched immediately. Haha, we just had to laugh! Top points for authenticity Catlins!
Lisa & Matt thank you so much for the opportunity to create these portraits for you - regardless of the weather I'm glad we made the most of it & captured some beautiful moments of a truly special time in your family. I look forward to hearing from you soon, x.
A few weeks ago I met Megan, Bevan & Jaydn at Leithen Bush for a late afternoon maternity portrait session. We struck a beautiful day and Megan picked an incredible location for the photos, a place where they love spending warm summer days by the river.
I'm constantly reminded of how small this beautiful world of ours is; when Megan contacted me about doing portraits neither of us immediately clicked that our paths had kind of already crossed. Many years ago when I was first dating Matt, he actually flatted with Bevan in Riversdale on the dairy farm Bevan worked on and now even though Bevan & Megan live out Tapanui way, Matt is still their mechanic!
It was so lovely to catch up with Bevan, meet Megan and their cute son Jaydn, who is about to become a big brother! And I loved this portrait session - so laid-back and filled with fun. Megan thank you so much for asking me to document these precious moments for you, I can't wait to hear from you about the arrival of bubs! xx
