We got sun, rain, wind and hail in the space of one engagement session - but to make up for the stormy weather mother nature treated us to an incredible rainbow against the rugged cliffs at Jack's Bay.
Rachel & Glenn get married this Saturday. Thankfully the weather forecast looks tropical compared to the weather we had on Wednesday for this engagement session. These two worldly souls were absolute troopers though in the testing Southland weather conditions. It was nice to be able to get out to the coast for these portraits too as the sea is a huge part of their lives.
Rach & Glenn thank you for choosing us as your wedding photographers - we are looking forward to celebrating with you both and there won't be any need for umbrellas tomorrow!
How cool is Rach's knuckleduster of an engagement ring?! Lovingly designed by Glenn to incorporate a container ship (Rachel's line of work!) and different stones starboard and port.
Bring on tomorrow's wedding! x
Chris and Kady's love story began with a random chance phone call. Chris hardly remembers what they talked about (he was at the pub at the time). But clearly there was a spark because that was almost 10 years ago now! Next year these two get married and we're stoked to be their photographers!!!
Last Saturday evening Chris & Kady treated us to a farm tour including a gorgeous sunset, epic views AND pizza for tea! All in the name of an engagement session! We were spoilt for choice with backdrops for photos and there were plenty of stories and laughed shared. Chris's only demand was that we finish photos in plenty of time for him to catch up rugby game on the telly! 😂(That was absolutely no issue seeing as how late the world cup games are!).
You might be wondering what I was thinking placing my couple beside a water trough for a photo...this is actually the location where Chris proposed to Kady. His favourite paddock on the family farm and Chris had to lure Kady up there (on Christmas Day no less!) under false pretences that the trough needed fixed. Kady wasn't very impressed about being dragged out on the farm at the time but I'm sure that all changed when Chris got down on one knee!
Chris and Kady - thank you so much for all the fun on Saturday! We loved catching up with you both and getting to create these photographs for you, plus get a tour of the farm! Bring on April 2020! x
We first met Dwayne & Brittney last year at a past couple's wedding. They were both in the bridal party and I remember they told us they'd be in touch once they started their own wedding planning...and here we are! These two get married in a few months & last weekend we shot up to Wanaka for their engagement session. Dwayne & Brittney are best friends, they've been together for 5 years now and have a beautiful 7 month old daughter - Rylee. We laughed our whole way through their engagement session and cannot wait for their winter wedding day to arrive!
It was blowing a gale up the lake on the afternoon of the session, but I managed to find a sheltered spot for these photos that still highlighted the lake, the views and the very last of that warm autumn colour. We couldn't start this session without first getting some gorgeous photos with Miss Rylee! So cute! Though it was probably a good thing Rylee hung out with her uncle while her mum & dad did the rest of their engagement session because she would have stolen the show. 😍
Can we just appreciate how awesome the colours of Britt & Dwayne's outfits work for this location and the autumn colours! Perfection. 👌
The story goes that Dwayne had this beautiful engagement ring for years (this may or may not be an exaggeration!), in fact he took it with him all round America on their OE, but it took him until early this year to finally pop the question to Brittney. I guess someone was living into the idea that good things take time hey!! It's so fun hearing couple's engagement stories. Most of the time the guys have a different take on it to the ladies!
Bring on August friends! We're so excited for your big day. xx
