Some of my favourite people in the world got married last week and I'm beyond happy for them! A secret elopement which no one knew about, just the four of them soaking up all the important things that are part of getting married! Love, commitment, celebrating each other and everything you have built together and all that is yet to come as husband and wife. I think you'll all agree with me that there is so much happiness in each and every single photo on this blog. I am actually obsessed! Briar and Rose were like wee woodland fairies dancing around, giddy with joy that their mum and dad were getting married. Holly you looked like a goddess in that Two Sisters the Label dress and Adam you scrubbed up well too mate! When we arrived to the house in the morning Adam was all but pacing on the deck with nervous excitement! After Holly spent the morning getting her hair & makeup done in town (I'm sure the salon had their suspicions 😛) she snuck away to the bedroom for her and the girls to get dressed. The twins stole the show doing a first look with Adam but you wait until you see his reaction to seeing Holly! You can almost see Adam and Holly's home from this spot at Dolamore Park where they chose to get married, with Ships Cone in the background, I can't think of a more fitting place for their ceremony as I know Holly loves the native bush and so does Adam. We had this wee clearing to ourselves and Steph gave them the loveliest ceremony complete with personalised vows to each other and a presentation of necklaces to the girls. Oh and a shot of whiskey at the end to seal the deal too! After the ceremony we headed down into the native bush for portraits before Adam, Holly and the girls took the short drive home to continue relaxing and soaking up that newlywed bliss. Congratulations again friends! I'm so so happy for you both and even though every wedding is an honour to be a part of, this one will go in history as a favourite! It was a huge honour to get to document this special event for you and to be your witnesses!!! So much love! x
Regan and Maigan love Twizel. They love spending time together as a family up there with their daughter Kynleigh. So when they started planning their wedding Twizel was their choice of location and when we arrived up there the day before the wedding I could see exactly why - it's stunning country with vivid blue waters and gorgeous views. The town has a relaxed vibe to it and the venue; MacKenzie Country Hotel is a beautiful stone clad building perfect for a wedding. However Twizel certainly didn't deliver on the weather front for these two on the Saturday, I could have cried as the gorgeous views were all shrouded in rain clouds! But I also knew from Regan & Maigan's wet engagement session that these two wouldn't let that deter them from enjoying their first day of marriage! The bridal party weren't going to let getting soaked in the rain during portrait time stop their fun either! And thankfully just before the ceremony the rain clouds cleared for Regan and Maigan and their guests. I loved Regan & Maigan's wedding day flow - from how relaxed the morning was, their first look and portraits before the ceremony so they could just stay & celebrate with their guests all afternoon. Their daughter Kynleigh was a part of their ceremony, handing over the rings and Regan got his truck in some shots too! Well done Sanfords on a truly personalised & special day - it was a beauty to photograph. Maigan you looked so beautiful and elegant in that gown! There wasn't a dry eye in the house when Maigan walked out in her dress! While I spent the morning with all the girls getting ready at a house around the road, the guys' morning back at the hotel looked slightly different... They say rain on your wedding day is good luck. Well Regan and Maigan have got bucket loads of luck because within minutes of their first look these two were soaked. Not that either of them noticed the rain - they just had eyes for each other. This was such a sweet first look! We had the best afternoon with this crew! Kynleigh was such a wee superstar for portraits - after a quick nap in the car she was ready for location number two! I just love that shot (above right)! Maigan in that dress, the moody sky, the colours. Then it was time to make it all official! A very proud father. Congratulations Mr & Mrs Sanford! The rest of the afternoon was spent chilling out with guests, enjoying the grazing table and some lawn games. Inside the marquee looked incredible and soon the evening celebrations were ready to kick off. After some hilarious speeches and some heartfelt sentiments shared, dinner was served! The beautiful cake was cut and the dance floor was opened! Regan and Maigan - congratulations again and thank you for trusting us to document your gorgeous day (although you may have been having your doubts after two rainy shoots with us! 😬😆). It was an honour to be a part of your first day of marriage and we wish you a lifetime of happiness together as husband and wife. I can't wait to show you all the photos! x DRESS: Love Me Do Bridal | MAKE-UP & HAIR: HeadKandy Twizel | FLOWERS: Lois Holdaway - Timaru | CELEBRANT: Claire Burgess - Winton | VENUE & CATERING: MacKenzie Country Hotel | CAKE: Aorakiss - Glentanner | MUSIC: Double Talk - Timaru.
Jono and Terri get married in April, which will be here before we know because this year is absolutely flying by! Last week we spent a beautiful evening with these two lovebirds on the Cochrane farm near Clinton for their engagement session, catching up before their big day and getting to know them both a bit better as a couple (although Terri and I were actually the same year at high school! And we shot Jono's brothers wedding last season!). I know that Jono and Terri were a bit nervous about doing these portraits, but they embraced it and just laughed their way through the session (which I love!), we chatted about wedding plans and I had a great time capturing them in the stunning late afternoon light. Murphy dog took a bit of the pressure off Jono & Terri too, trying to steal the show - he didn't get the memo that the photos weren't actually about him haha so you'll see him pop up in most of the photos! That engagement rock is stunning! Jono you did well! After a walk around the yards and garden, we ventured up to the top of the farm. Jono and Terri we can't wait for April to arrive - I know your wedding day is going to be a beautiful, big celebration and lots of fun to be a part of! It was really great to catch up last week and create some portraits on the farm with you both (and Murphy!). x
