Bush & Amy's wedding was a day filled with fun, family & friends. The pair tied the knot at the Tree's family home in Riversdale on a true Southland day - yip we had rain, wind and sunshine! Despite the weather it was a perfect day & I absolutely loved everything about this wedding, but what I loved most was the love & happiness that could be felt all day for these two awesome people.
I've known Gerard (aka Bush) for many years, Matt has played rugby with him & I went to school with his brother. But I hadn't met Amy until she got in touch with me last year about photographing their wedding. Amy has a huge heart, an awesome laugh and is so down-to-earth. These two are just perfect together & it was a huge privilege to photograph their wedding!
My day started with the girls & all the fabulousness of getting ready! Take a look at this dress!!!
The girls were all so laid-back. The house was filled with laughter & high spirits as people came and went & the girls prepared for the big day ahead.
Booboo the cat even came in to see why there was so many people in his house. And decided to work the camera angles while he was there!
Amy's headpiece was gorgeous & went beautifully with a sparkly pair of earrings Bush had given her to wear on their wedding day.
This is one of my favourite photos from the day. So beautiful Amy!
Meanwhile Matt was with the boys, being an awesome second shooter. Every wedding we shoot together makes me fall a little more in love with him, he really is quite brilliant!
Everyone just loved the bribery involved to get the handsome wee ring bearer running down the aisle. Can you guess?
Well if you guessed a Transformer toy then you're absolutely correct! :)
As the ceremony began, the drizzle turned to rain & umbrellas were grabbed but the smiles never stopped. Nothing was going to get in the way of this beautiful moment where Bush & Amy exchanged vows & then sealed the deal with a kiss.
The bridal party photos involved a lot of laughter, a couple of random hats (watch out for their appearance below!) and a few good stories told. We could have stayed out all afternoon photographing these guys!
How cute are they??!! I just love the series of three photos above, captured by Matt. One of the many advantages of having an awesome second shooter is capturing that often more candid perspective.
Then it was on to the party at the Heartland Hotel Croydon Lodge Gore, where everything was looking fabulous!
A highlight to our evenings as photographers is the speeches. A chance to hear the story of how couples fell in love, an insight into what has shaped their lives, hilarious stories of past antics & a few bloopers along the way. Every wedding Matt tells me the speeches just keeping better and better. Well guys, you didn't disappoint! Willie you did an absolutely outstanding job of MC, and between your tales & everyone's epic speeches the whole room was in constant fits of laughter - us included! The challenge has been set, those speeches are going to be hard to beat!
It all ended up a bit emotional when the bride and groom took to the microphone though. But I won't post the photo of you teary-eyed Bush, don't worry your secret is safe! Instead here's a photo of you two being awesome cutting the cake :)
Amy & Bush, thank you so much for having us as your photographers! Your day was perfect & we had so much fun :) We wish you every happiness in your marriage.xx
