Coffee dates with fellow creatives are a dangerous thing! A couple of months ago I met with friend Carmel (from the Avenue Design Studio) for coffee and we started talking about the importance of doing personal work and projects just for the sake of creativity. I mentioned that I really wanted to do a styled bridal shoot with an autumn feel and well...the whole idea exploded from there! I love doing styled shoots, this is my second bridal one now and I am so incredibly happy with how it all came together. It's such an awesome opportunity for all those involved to get creative and do something more editorial, outside of the box. Autumn is definitely my favourite time of year to shoot. The sun sets earlier in the day, making for beautiful golden light. I am so excited for the autumn weddings I already have booked for next season! Of course as soon as we decided to put together an autumn shoot we knew we had to go to Central Otago! Alexandra is full of some amazingly talented creatives who came on board with us to bring this shoot to life. We spent a perfect Saturday in late April creating this bridal shoot out at The Packing Shed which is a quaint and beautiful wedding venue in Alexandra complete with stunning gardens and an orchard! Ruby of Ruby Tuesday Boutique Florist in Alexandra created two incredible bouquets for the shoot. If you haven't already; check out the behind the scenes video from the shoot (here). This beautiful David Tutera gown came from Brides by Donna Rae in Invercargill. Donna is the exclusive stockist of David Tutera for Mon Cheri in New Zealand! She has brides-to-be flying in to shop with her and it's not surprising if you've seen her store - Donna offers an incredible wedding dress experience for her clients, stepping inside her store makes me want to get married all over again just to dress shop! Amber from Buff Day Spa in Alexandra created the beautiful makeup. I absolutely loved the eyes!!! I met Amber at a wedding I shot last year and was so excited to have her on board for this shoot. Rae Ellen & Andrea from Lovely Black came up with this beautiful relaxed-braid hair up with pops of gypsophila dotted throughout. We spent the morning getting ready at Rae Ellen's salon in Alexandra and it is such a beautiful space - check it out in the behind-the-scenes video! Easy to say I was in photographer heaven this whole shoot! Carmel worked magic with these paper goods!!! I'm a bit of a geek when it comes to details and paper goods so it was so much fun getting to photograph these! A wedding suite complete from invitation to reception menu; all printed on french cotton paper and hand torn. Carmel imported plant-dyed silk ribbon from Belgium for the paper goods and for the bouquets too. We finished the shoot in the orchard amongst the rows of trees with turning leaves. Just check out that colour palette with all those hues of autumn! Our model, Amelia looked just stunning! Because we were having so much fun we decided to mix things up with the hair & makeup, to create a different, more glam look! The creative team! (photo taken by Matt - without his help this shoot wouldn't have happened! Thank you!) A huge thank you to the following awesomely talented creatives that made this happen!!!
