Hello 2017! On Friday the 6th of January we had the honour of documenting Chris & Anna's beautiful Borland Lodge wedding. We had our fingers crossed for the weather and it worked - the day was warm & for the most part dry. Chris & Anna chose to say their wedding vows in Anna's parent's garden - the perfect setting and just a short distance from Borland Lodge where the reception was held in a gorgeous big marquee. By hiring out Borland Lodge Chris & Anna also had the opportunity to spend all weekend with their guests celebrating which was neat and the location of Borland Lodge is pretty serene!
Anna and I had been in touch for well over a year as plans began for their wedding day. In fact I've been privileged to be just about the first thing Anna booked when her & Chris got engaged. Upon recommendation of a friend Anna contacted me just days after the proposal. I am forever grateful to my advocates out there that spread the love! Annabel I'm looking at you 😘.
If I described to you the best kind of client I could wish for, I'd describe to you Anna and Chris! Since our first point of contact we've gotten to know each other well. I feel I can call Chris & Anna friends rather than clients - and that's the sort of business I love doing; making real connections. Anna would get in touch to share exciting updates during the wedding planning; like when she found her dream dress, or when the invites were done and even when their personalised guest book arrived! I know we will keep in touch for years to come and I cannot wait to see where life's adventures will take Anna & Chris. ❤️
My morning started in Tuatapere with the girls where everything & everyone was looking gorgeous!
Chris & Anna organised gifts for each other to open in the morning as they got ready. And it turns out Chris has quite a way with words - Anna had a tear in her eye as she read his letter.
And when Dad saw his beautiful girl for the first time in her wedding dress, there wasn't a dry eye in the room!
Meanwhile just down the road at the hotel the guys were spending the morning getting ready too. Check out those awesome cricket bat cufflinks. It's no secret Chris is a huge fan of cricket!!! Such an awesome idea to have engraved tie pins too. Anna thought of every last detail and I just love how each detail was completely unique & meaningful to them both.
And then it was time to say I do! Anna looked stunning walking down the aisle arm-in-arm with her proud Dad, and when Chris saw his bride for the first time it was such a precious moment.
A few spots of rain during the ceremony didn't dampen the joy of becoming Mrs Case!
As guests made their way towards Borland Lodge we took the scenic route with the bridal party!
Awww you two are just the sweetest!
Time to party! A beautiful big marquee transformed Borland Lodge into the perfect spot to spend the rest of the evening. I love marquees! They're a beautiful blank canvas to decorate uniquely to the tastes of the couple, there's plenty of room for the dancefloor and as a photographer they're pretty incredible to photograph in with all that beautiful light!
The sound of laughter and clinking glasses filled the marquee during speeches and toasts.
If you're wondering about that piece of paper the MC is holding up there - it's a screenshot of a Snapchat that Chris sent out a couple of years back when Anna caught the bouquet at a wedding! Snapchat people - it's a dangerous app! 😜
Matt & I got absolutely spoilt at dinner time getting to sit at a table with guests! We had so much fun getting to know everyone at our table, in fact we kinda felt like guests ourselves!!!
After dinner it was on to cutting the cake & then into the first dance, which was pretty darn epic! Chris & Anna got dancing lessions for their first dance as husband & wife - something I'm still trying to convince Matt we should do almost 6 years on from our wedding day!!!
The Yardmen had everyone up on the dancefloor. I love getting photos of people rocking it out to good tunes, there's so much joy & fun in these photos! The Yardmen were awesome, I could have had a little boogie myself!
Anna & Chris we are so thankful you chose us to photograph your gorgeous, love-filled wedding day! Every part of your day reflected the love you have for each other, your family and friends. Every detail was thought of and special. And everyone there had a fun day celebrating with you, including us ❤️.
I can't wait to share all the photos with you both! Your wedding album is going to be epic!
Congratulations again friends, you have a wonderful future ahead of you both.x
