Last Saturday's workshop marked our fourth & final workshop for 2017! We have had so much fun hosting workshops this year in our home at Riversdale, helping photography enthusiasts learn to become masters of their cameras and start creating the images they dream of. I hear stories all the time of people who have purchased great cameras and then never use them because they can't figure how to get them off Auto mode and the results are frustrating. At our photography workshops we've been concentrating on getting our attendees familiar with their cameras and understanding what the different settings do. We discuss the fundamentals such as exposure, focusing, lighting and also cover creative aspects such as composition, perspective and story-telling. These workshops take up the most part of a day and we have loved how conversational they've been allowing for heaps of Q&A! Henry loves the Workshops! He spends the day making friends with everyone, showing off with his toys and generally causing a few laughs. He even got to model for us on one of the workshop days! One section of the workshop includes a practical shoot where we get outside and start putting to practice the theory. Everyone gets their cameras into Manual mode and we start taking control of our imagery. One of our cute models for the practical shoot! We've had some lovely feedback from our attendees! Just yesterday I had one of our September attendees get in touch to tell me that she'd shot a whole event in manual mode, for the first time ever! Another attendee went out the day after our July workshop and captured the Aurora Australis, sending me this beautiful message; "FULL manual mode - Boom! Would never have been able to even think of doing it before Saturday. I am stoked for my first attempt. Thanks so much." Getting feedback from our workshop attendees has been so valuable and encouraging. It has allowed us to tweak content here & there to ensure we're doing things effectively and it helps us know we're on the right track. There's so much to learn when it comes to photography so it's great to know our attendees are leaving inspired and getting out there and putting the workshop content to use. Another one of our awesome models, who ran around the playground - helping us learn how to put 'tracking focus' to use on our cameras! Last Saturday's workshop was a full afternoon of learning and inspiration, finished off with an after-dark shoot where we all got out and experimented with some light painting using sparklers! A huge thank you to all 20 of our 2017 Workshop attendees! We have loved getting to know you all and help you along your photography journey. Practice, practice, practice - friends!
PS: If you're interested in attending one of our 2018 workshops, the first 2018 date has just been announced today & you can find out more here. |
